How does the Activeion™ technology work?
The Activeion technology uses blended stream water electrolysis and a science called electroporation to activate and convert tap water into ionized water, a powerful dirt-removing, bacteria-killing agent.
This happens through a four-step process: (1) CHARGING: When the trigger is pressed, the water flows through a water cell that applies a slight electrical charge to the tap water; (2) TRANSFORMING: The water passes through an ion exchange membrane, where the ionized water is separated into an oxygenated mixture of positively and negatively electrically charged nano-bubbles; (3) CLEANING: When applied directly to a surface, the ionized water helps lift the dirt from the surface like a magnet, enabling it to be wiped away; and (4) SANITIZING: As the water is sprayed on a nonporous, hard surface, it carries a low-level electric field to the surface where the germs may be living. This low-level electric field ruptures and kills germs (when used as directed).

What is electroporation?
The science of electroporation comes from the medical and pharmaceutical fields. In those disciplines, the technology is used to expand the membrane of a cell — known as “porating” the cell. This causes holes to be created in the walls of very small cells and in the medical space this is used when adding medicine or DNA into a host cell. At Activeion™, they’ve adapted that same technology so it could be used to permanently disrupt the membranes/walls of bacteria and viruses. This combined with the ionized water inactivates/kills the germs.

Where is the Activeion™ technology currently being used?
Currently, the Activeion technology is being used to clean homes, universities, schools, stadiums, airports, restaurants, retail stores, hospitals, hotels, motels, convention centers, local government buildings, coffee shops, hair salons, child day care facilities and many other places where people live, work and play.

How long has this cleaning technology been in the marketplace?
From cleaning medical devices, computer chips and food processing plants, the technology to create ionized water through water electrolysis has been available for more than 50 years. In the past, water electrolysis technology mixed salt with the water. Adding salt to the water allows the technology to create two streams of water – alkaline and acidic. These 2 streams could not be combined without losing the benefits of the electrolysis process. With the introduction of the Activeion™ technology, this is the first time both streams have been combined to work together to produce a general-purpose cleaner without any added salt. The Activeion™ technology does not rely on the traditional chemistry process of the water electrolysis – but adapted it to generate electrically charged nano-bubbles. It is these electrically charged nano-bubbles created by the Activeion technology that attack the dirt and lift it from the surface.

Is the Activeion™ technology similar to steam technology?
No. The Activeion technology does not generate steam. The technology ionizes the water. It does not change the temperature of the water.

How is ionized water different than cleaning with regular water?
It’s different because the water dispersed from the ionator EXP™ isn’t “just water”. The water is charged and transformed into ionized water that attracts dirt like a magnet. The result is cleaning power equal to or greater than general-purpose cleaners.

Does it kill germs?
Activeion technology doesn’t just clean as well as or better than other general purpose and specialized cleaners, but it also kills germs – like the 2009 Pandemic H1N1 Influenza A virus and more than 99.9% of most harmful bacteria (E. coli, VRE, Salmonella, MRSA, Pseudomonas, Staph, Listeria and E. coli O157:H7).

What does the ionator EXP™ work best on?

It is best to think about the Activeion technology as a general-purpose cleaner. The ionator EXP can be used to clean soils, stains, dirt, dust, oils and more on the following surfaces:

  • countertops
  • tables
  • carpet spots
  • glass
  • stainless steel
  • ceramic tile
  • wood floors/wood surfaces
  • floors
  • stone/marble/granite
  • bathrooms (tubs, showers, sinks, toilets)
  • plastic/plexiglass
  • laundry spotting
  • cribs/car seats/high chairs
  • exercise mats/gym equipment
