New York's First Charter Member of Cleaning for a Reason:
Teresa's Family Cleaning Helps Women Undergoing Cancer Treatment

Rocky Point, NY, Nov. 16 Cleaning for a Reason Foundation is excited to announce their first New York charter member, Teresa's Family Cleaning Inc. Cleaning for a Reason is the nation's first non-profit organization dedicated to providing free house cleaning services for women undergoing cancer treatment.

Teresa Ward, founder of Teresa's Family Cleaning, lost her only sister, Virginia Tastrom, to cancer at the age of 50. Virginia, a mother of three, was diagnosed with cancer in April 2003 and passed away after a short and courageous fight for her life in July 2003. Ward said it took her three years to overcome the loss, and when she discovered Cleaning for a Reason Foundation, she knew this is how she could give back to so many women who are struggling and suffering with cancer, while honoring her sister.

Debbie Sardone, Founder of Cleaning for a Reason Foundation, said, "Maid services have been doing this in small ways for years. Our members, such as Teresa Ward, have had a hard time turning down a woman who needs her house cleaned when she is battling cancer and cannot afford a maid service. I decided to go ahead and form a foundation so that we could extend support across the entire country."

Teresa's Family Cleaning is one of the first 30 charter members of the Foundation. The monthly pledges from individual maid services help fund the Foundation's administrative expenses, while consumer donations are earmarked entirely for cleaning homes for women with cancer.

"It's great to be part of a nationwide support system for such an important issue, improving the lives of women courageously fighting cancer. I am looking forward to helping more maid service owners in New York plug in to this most worthwhile cause," said Teresa Ward.

Cleaning for a Reason has profoundly impacted Teresa's employees as well. Helen Brohan, Teresa's operations manager, said, "We're not nurses or doctors, but this is what we can do to make a difference in the lives of others. And it it so gratifying to know that we can do our part - what an honor."

Teresa's Family Cleaning has provided expert home cleaning, window washing and carpet cleaning services for 12 years serving homeowners in Huntington, Southampton, Rocky Point and Nassau County, including many of their finest estates.
